WATCH: Matt Wrack supports Standing Together at the Trades Union Congress

The annual congress of the Trades Union Congress, the umbrella body for trade unions in the UK, is currently taking place in Brighton. 

In a debate about international solidarity with the people of Palestine, Matt Wrack stressed the importance of direct links with and support for opposition movements with Israel, specifically mentioning Standing Together, amongst others. 

He reminded delegates that domestic opposition was a central factor in ending the USA’s brutal war in Vietnam. 

Matt is currently in office as the general secretary of teachers’ union NASUWT. He is also a former firefighter and leader of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU), which was one of the first UK unions to back Standing Together at national level. Matt met with Standing Together leaders when they visited the UK in 2024.
