Trump, Netanyahu: We Won’t Let You Do It

This morning, we woke up to the horror of Trump’s plan to ethnically cleanse Gaza and seize control of the Strip. This plan is delusional, dangerous, and a recipe for disaster for everyone in Israel-Palestine. We want to be clear: It won’t happen. This land is home to millions of Palestinians and millions of Jews, and none of us are going anywhere.

This is a dangerous moment. Inspired by Trump’s call, the extremists in our society are having a field day planning how to implement their messianic vision. Bezalel Smotrich is celebrating, Itamar Ben-Gvir, buoyed by the promise of more Palestinian pain, is getting ready to re-join the government, and Benjamin Netanyahu is pleased with the results of his visit to Washington and the new security of his coalition. The announcement has also endangered the ceasefire when negotiations over its second stage are supposed to begin – a gift for politicians who oppose it.

Our answer to Trump’s vision of forced transfer and rule in Gaza is simple: There is another way and it’s called Israeli-Palestinian peace. Only a permanent ceasefire, the release of every hostage, and an end to war and occupation will bring all of us safety.

Far-right extremists all over the world are getting organized. But so are we. We are determined to resist the violence and destabilization Trump is offering. In the coming days and weeks, we will be on the ground across the country demanding what is in all of our interests: a complete ceasefire deal, end to the occupation, and a just peace.

We’re in this for the long run, and we need you in it with us. This is a moment of crisis, but we must not give in to despair and overwhelm. Let’s stay organized and focused.
