Protesting the initimidation of Palestinian citizens

[On 3 November], Abed Abu Shehadeh was arrested in the middle of the night by 15 masked police officers while in his home in Jaffa. Police didn't tell his family where Shehadeh, a journalist, activist, and Palestinian citizen of Israel, was being taken or what he was charged with.

This abduction is a clear attempt to target Palestinian citizens after their historic turnout on Election Day, when 80 percent came out to the polls, compared with 53 percent in 2022. Netanyahu and his far-right coalition lost the election and are desperately trying to discredit the results to stop an opposition government from forming.

Even the heads of Arab political parties are being threatened with interrogation by Israel’s intelligence service despite no evidence of any wrongdoing.

Right now, we’re marching to the President’s Residence in Jerusalem, and on Saturday we’ll take to the streets across the country in Jewish and Arab cities: we demand a Jewish-Arab government, which is the will of the majority! There’s a very short window of opportunity for a government to form and we must act now.

As negotiations on forming a new government begin, we will continue to pressure our representatives to immediately create a government that reflects what the people who live here, Jews and Palestinians, want. This is the first step in a different reality here.

Because only Jewish-Palestinian partnership can deliver the future we all deserve; only together will we be able to send this supremacist, messianic, and destructive coalition home. And only together will we be able to build the future we deserve: a future of peace, equality, and justice.
