Netanyahu is pushing for a regional war
Standing Together report on the latest developments in Israel-Palestine and the wider region.
We really don’t know how to begin describing this week. Each day brings terrible news, each day is filled with sorrow, horror, and grief.
Since Saturday alone, parents have had to bury their children after the horrific rocket attacks from Hezbollah in Majdal Shams and Kibbutz HaGoshrim. Extremist Israeli settlers and government ministers besieged army bases in protest against the interrogation and arrest of Israeli soldiers who raped and abused Palestinian detainees in the Sde Teiman detention center. Israel’s military is continuing to bomb heavily-populated civilian areas in Gaza. Israel assassinated Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas’s political chief, which may drastically impact hostage deal negotiations. And now, on just Thursday, we are a hundred steps closer to an all-out regional war with Hezbollah and Iran.
We are not being dramatic when we say this: our country is in free fall. We urgently need to change direction and remove our dangerous government.
We have continued demonstrating, marching through the streets calling for an end to the war and a deal to release the hostages, who are now 300 days in captivity. Our local chapters have been holding ‘Yes, Peace’ conferences all throughout this week to discuss strategies in fighting for a a just, sustainable peace.
Your ongoing support is what helps strengthen our movement and allows us to continue our fight against the extreme right-wing Israeli government, and to fight for a sustainable long-lasting Israeli-Palestinian peace.
