Jewish Labour Movement declares support for Standing Together
The Jewish Labour Movement, one of the Labour Party’s affiliated socialist societies, has passed a resolution supporting Standing Together at its 2024 AGM, which took place on 18 November.
The text of the resolution is below.
JLM Notes:
- Standing Together (اًمع نقف ביחד עומדים (is a socialist grassroots movement of Jewish and Palestinian citizens of Israel, working to mobilise Israeli society against the occupation and for peace, equality and social justice.
- Standing Together’s initiatives since 7 October 2023 include organising Arab-Jewish solidarity vigils and meetings, developing Jewish-Arab solidarity networks to prevent violence in mixed cities, establishing a Humanitarian Guard to protect aid trucks heading to Gaza coming under attack from far right groups, collecting aid for Gaza and arranging its delivery, organising demonstrations calling for a ceasefire agreement and hostage deal, and creating projects to fight racism and ensure de-escalation and solidarity between Jewish and Palestinian communities within Israel.
- Standing Together is a longstanding partner of Yachad and the New Israel Fund UK, and part of a wider civil society network within Israel which works towards JLM’s vision of an Israel based on freedom, social justice and equality for all its citizens.
JLM Believes:
- That Standing Together provides a beacon of light and hope at a time when the Israeli government and the Knesset are dominated by the parties of the Right and Far Right, offering Israelis an alternative vision of peace and independence for Israelis and Palestinians, full equality for everyone in the land, and true social, economic, and environmental justice.
JLM Resolves
- To promote the work and vision of Standing Together to its members, throughout the British Labour movement and internationally.
