Israeli police cancel anti-war march
Standing Together report on plans to resist the cancellation of their anti-war protest, due to take place in Tel Aviv on 18 July.
This is just crazy! Ben Gvir’s police just cancelled our peace rally this upcoming Thursday! The rally calling for peace, a permanent ceasefire agreement, and hostage release deal, which we planned leading in coalition with other organizations has been threatened by extreme Kahanists. In response, the police revoked our permit for the rally instead of protecting us!
We won’t stay silent towards this unjust act and will be appealing to the Supreme Court against the police. The costs of organizing this rally and the legal costs of appealing are very high – we need your support now more than ever. We cannot allow the extremists to win and our voices to be silenced.
They want us to fall into despair, but we know the only option, especially now, is peace. That is why we are fighting day in and day for a better future, but to do this, we need your support – consider donating to our crowd funding campaign.
We have already reached 50% of our $400,000 goal for our annual crowdfunding campaign. This is thanks to over 1,130 supporters who have already donated to strengthen our movement’s fight for peace, justice, and solidarity at this critical moment – Donate now to help reach our goal.
In the past couple of days, hundreds of innocent people have been killed in Gaza by indiscriminate bombings, and Israeli hostages are still being held under Hamas’s captivity after 283 days. We know the Israeli government is thwarting the deal on the table to bring the hostages back home and end this horrific war, and only public pressure will force them to accept it; that’s why we are continuing to protest for a permanent ceasefire agreement and hostage release deal.
Last weekend, hundreds of Jews and Palestinians participated in the fourth annual Galilee Conference for Jewish-Arab Partnership organized by Standing Together’s Nazareth and Jezreel Valley chapter held in the city of Shefa-‘Amr under the title “Building Strength, Creating Hope”. In these challenging times, we are proud to have been able to gather hundreds of Jewish and Arab citizens of Israel together. The conference was also attended by Knesset members, mayors, city council members, and peace activists, and together we discussed how we can build power to create a shared future, based on true partnership.
We are committed to building an alternative to our reality – a future of peace, justice, equality, and safety for all in Israel-Palestine. If you haven’t already, donate now to Standing Together, and share the link of the campaign with a friend!
